Job Opening: CEO – Luxembourg Convention Bureau


The Luxembourg National Convention Bureau is a newly-created, independent unit dedicated to raising the profile of Luxembourg as a leading business events destination (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition) that focuses on the acquisition and facilitation of international conferences and business events in the Grand Duchy.

The LCB represents the national business events industry and acts as a one stop shop for conference organisers. The objective of the LCB is to strengthen Luxembourg’s local economy by increasing knowledge, trade, investments and participant expenditure.

Job assignments:

  • coordinating and managing all aspects of the start-up phase of the newly created Luxembourg Convention Bureau
  • responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau and its employees
  • developing and executing overall business strategies including marketing and sales activities and the elaboration of an annual budget
  • fostering an environment of innovation, identifying new opportunities for the development of Luxembourg’s business events sector
  • setting up and maintaining a constructive and fruitful cooperation and partnership with key partners and stakeholders in key economic sectors and the business events industry in Luxembourg and abroad, such as Luxembourg for Tourism and Luxinnovation, Luxembourg City Tourist Office, associations, knowledge institutions and corporate networks
  • determining the best use of resources with regard to the defined objectives
  • building strong working relationships with (in agreement with and with the help of the advisory board) the Municipality, the local business events sector, stakeholders and partners
  • providing strong, inspiring and effective representation of the Bureau at all levels with all potential partners and stakeholders as well as in the media, both nationally and internationally
  • reporting systematically to the Board of Directors of LCB

Job requirements and competencies:

  • professional and intellectual capacities at the academic or higher professional education level
  • passionate about Luxembourg (or the ability to develop this quickly)
  • diplomatic, strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills
  • strong commercial skills, and able to coordinate a sales team with a clear focus on generating new business
  • excellent leadership and people management skills
  • communication skills: public speaking, presentation and written
  • inspiring, autonomous and creative personality with managerial sensitivity who acts as a credible figurehead for Luxembourg as a leading international destination for business events
  • proven track record in setting up and managing a convention bureau, a destination marketing organization or another hospitality organisation
  • proven experience in a senior management position, preferably in a Director General position, for a minimum period of 5 years
  • results driven, proactive, innovative and creative team player who takes the lead, is able to delegate and ensures that team members excel
  • knowledge of languages: English (fluent, excellent presentation skills), 2nd language (French or German), third language is an advantage


  • the position is a permanent (CDI), full-time position
  • the position is commensurate with salary scale and benefits package at a level found in similar positions with the Grand Duchy
