1. The Dubai Association Centre – One Year On

In just one year, the Dubai Association Centre initiative has captured the attention of big industry players with many new associations looking to set up shop in the emirate, revealed Steen Jakobsen, Director of Dubai Business Events. Dubai took a major step forward in 2013 on the route to establishing itself as a global association hub. It introduced a licensing system to help regional and international professional associations, trade bodies and international non-profit organisations set up branch offices and chapters in the emirate.
2. Adelaide Convention Bureau launches booking portal for conference delegates

The Adelaide Convention Bureau launches its new online booking portal for delegates seeking pre and post conference touring experiences, which have long been known to be a lucrative addition for destinations hosting business events. The portal, the winner of the inaugural Australian Association of Convention Bureaux (AACB) Innovation Award is an Australian first.
3. European National Convention Bureaux Gets Five New Members

Italy, Ireland, France, Portugal and Latvia have all joined the alliance of European National Convention Bureaux, bringing the total to 22 members. The strategic alliance, announced at IMEX America 2014, is the first of its kind and aims to encourage knowledge sharing and partnership working among the member countries.
4. IMPACT won Thailand MICE Venue Standard

IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani has been awarded the ‘Thailand MICE Venue Standard’ symbol in the Meeting Room category by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau or ‘TCEB’.TCEB conducted an evaluation among 72 MICE venues in Thailand’s five MICE Cities including Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket,Chiang Mai, KhonKaen, and Hat Yai.
5. VisitScotland partners with International Special Events Society

The International Special Events Society (ISES) has confirmed VisitScotland as the newest member of its Global Partner Program. The 17-month partnership will see ISES work with VisitScotland to give the tourist board increased exposure to the global events industry, through collaborative projects and participation in international events.
